Day 114 - Photoventure!

Chelsea was in town so what else to do with a good photofriend but photoventure! Obviously all of these Canon shots trump her silly Nikon, but maybe she'll surprise me with some shots of her own (I dare you).

     Unfazed.

Day 113 - Flash Fun

Went out to Lola's and brought ye ol camera along. Have to say I had a lot of fun.

Day 112 - Freelensing

I stumbled upon this technique on the web and decided to give it a shot today. Wow, its really interesting trying to implement this. I haven't felt this sudden surge of learning urge in a while.

The idea behind freelensing is that by doing so you can actively select your focus plane and also reduce the minimum focus distance normally afforded by your lens.

If you're interested in using this (I think it only works on dSLR's) you have to know the possible side-effects of freelensing. Exposing your sensor, while the camera is on, increases the likelihood of it attracting dust and getting dirty. Detaching your lens from your camera while shooting is also a really good way of initiating a slow-motion lens-drop sequence that you will have the joy of replaying in your head over and over again thinking "why the hell did I do that". You have been forewarned.

Anywho, here are a few shots that I got while messing about with it today. I'm going to hopefully find some willing subjects (or go incognito and stealth shoot some people) and compare the effects on portraits.

Day 111

Featuring Austin:

Just testing the flash out at a chill sesh at Jacobs, thank god for RAW and its abilities to capture lots of detail and stuff.

Day 110

I think it has become clear that I can no longer stay true to the core of a 365 project. I cannot produce an image a day for 365 consecutive days. I know, I know: I'm a terrible person, I deserve to have my organs harvested for various nefarious schemes, I should give up breathing forever.
But before we jump (or I jump...off a bridge or something) to that conclusion let me redeem myself.
I will give a full 365 images --- this is why I've changed the naming scheme of my posts to better reflect the liquid nature of my processing.

So lets get back on track here, shall we?

Here is a shot my brother took when we were coming back from an impromptu shoot. Just so you peeps can see (to some extent) what sort of processing I did: here are some before and after pics.
